Hamish was a remarkable young man whose courage, resilience and wicked sense of humour left an unforgettable mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
On 24 June 2026, after a long and courageous fight, Hamish journeyed beyond earthside. He passed peacefully, on his own terms, held in the loving arms of his sister, Anabelle, with his lifelong companion, Teddy, tucked tightly under his arm.
Though his time with us was far too short, Hamish’s legacy is immeasurable. He showed us what true courage looks like, how to find light in the darkest moments, and how love endures beyond a lifetime.
Forever loved. Forever brave. Forever our Hamish.

There are no words deep enough for the loss of a child. Hamish was such a great friend and I cherish the adventures we had at St Christophers. My favourite memories I made with Hamish were on camp when we share a cabin with our 3 closest friends. We had so much fun and stayed up way too late laughing and telling stories. He was always so kind to everyone and had a great outlook on life. He truly was an amazing person to be around. To describe Hamish many words come to mind- warm, loving, affectionate and grateful.
His zest for knowledge was paramount and he willingly imparted that knowledge to many people – he was quick to correct me when i mixed up the carnivours and herbivours.
Hamish had a natural ability to engage socially and his smile lit up many rooms.
Hamish’s good nature, kindness and sensitivity endeared him to many.

Words can’t express the sadness we felt hearing this news. We remember Hamish as a little boy with an incredible fascination for dinosaurs, proudly knowing the name of every species – a little professor in the making. We remember him happily playing with the bucket of cars whenever he came to visit us. Although his battle with illness has come to an end, his spirit, warmth, and the memories he leaves behind will remain with all who knew and loved him. We met Hamish on the ward when Polly was just beginning her treatment journey and Hamish was nearing the end of his. It was such a rough road, and meeting Jess and Hamish, and seeing them walk that path ahead of us, was such a comfort at a time we needed it most.
Hamish had every nurse on that ward wrapped around his finger. He was the sweetest little soul, and we will never forget him.
