‘Life & Death, Today & Tomorrow’ by Kate Morgan. It’s a space where we tell the stories of our beloved clients and co-workers in the death space. We’re working on a volume of interviews that aim to inspire, advocate and support.
– CHAPTER ONE –
Gill’s Story
This is why Tomorrow exists. Sharing stories is at the heart of our Tomorrow Memorials.
We are proud to be able to share Gill and Hans’ story of life, love, death & birth. But with an undercurrent of hope and living in the present.
About ‘Gill’s Story’
Whether you’re dealing with loss, supporting someone who is, or simply looking to understand the human experience better, this conversation will touch your heart.
Overcoming tragedy and deciding to have baby with IVF, knowing that her husband Hans is going to pass away, Gill talks to Kate Morgan about her grief journey, young widowhood, hope after loss & the importance of support.
Hans Su, a loving husband, son, brother, and friend was diagnosed with bowel cancer in July 2021, among Melbourne’s lockdowns. This changed everything for Hans and for Gill. Their life became centred around chemotherapy, scans and surgeries. Initially, the outlook was promising in terms of a cure, however in January they were delivered the devastating news that Hans’ illness was terminal.
He was brave to the end. He was loved to the end. He will never be forgotten.
‘Gill’s Story’ a discussion about healing through grief and finding the strength to move forward. Gill’s strength, courage and hope in the toughest of circumstances inspires us to deliver on our mission – to celebrate and honour the life of loved ones with care, empathy and dignity.
Listen in and join the inspiring conversation with Gill Malona who talks about the difficult choice she made to become a Mother after her husband’s terminal cancer diagnosis.

At The Widsociety, Gill writes in a way that is often honest and raw, but also displays her humorous side too. The Widsociety is not just for widows/widowers, but for anyone experiencing grief and loss.
Gill has suggested you may wish to donate to Bowel Cancer Australia who advocate for testing younger, remembering you are never too young to be tested for bowel cancer.
