Spring Newsletter ’25

Hello from Tomorrow Funerals

As always, thank you for taking the time to catch up with us. Our newsletter is only sent a couple of times each year, and we hope it gives you a thoughtful glimpse into what’s been happening at Tomorrow.

Tomorrow Arrives in Sydney

We’re delighted to share that Tomorrow Funerals is now available in Sydney. Our colleague, the lovely Marie Alessi is leading our work there – bringing warmth, compassion to our families in Sydney – who are seeking modern and personal farewells.

Marie has been writing and speaking on grief for many years, drawing from her own life and experience of grief. Her passion for bringing lightness into grief is incredible.

New Podcast Episodes

We’ve recently released two new conversations in our “Life & Death, Today & Tomorrow” podcast.

One features Marie’s own personal story, where she reflects with openness and courage on love, loss and resilience.

The other explores the topic of Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD).

This episode has resonated with many listeners, as VAD continues to be an area of great interest, change and discussion in Australia. For us, having these conversations out in the open is an important way of supporting families who want their choices, beliefs and values to be honoured.

Susan provides first hand insights about Voluntary Assisted Dying, sharing the extraordinary experience of being the remaining partner of someone who’s chosen to utilise VAD.

We’ve been sharing more short videos on our Instagram page lately — capturing real moments, reflections and ideas from our work. The response has been wonderfully positive. Feel free to follow us there and join the conversation.

Short glimpses, long reflections on Instagram — our community has really embraced this format.

People are Talking about Tomorrow Funerals

We’ve recently had a few proud moments of recognition for our work:

  • Tomorrow Funerals was named Best Funeral Service in the City of Stonnington 2025.
  • Our podcast series was mentioned in Mamamia when the incredible Josephine Humphreys wrote about the death by suicide of her daughter.
  • Our founder Kate Morgan was featured in a Q&A with Inside Small Business, discussing Tomorrow’s approach and her journey to working in funerals.
  • We were also profiled in The Senior, exploring how more and more families are choosing more personal farewells that focus on the way a person lived.

Moments like these remind us how important it is to keep sharing the value of our modern, personal approach to creating funerals.

Tips on Supporting a Grieving Friend

We’re often asked: “What’s the best way to support someone who’s grieving?” It’s a big question. We’ve found the simplest gestures matter most: being present, listening and offering practical help without waiting to be asked.

We’ve shared more ideas in the Journal – How to Support a Friend Who Is Grieving for those who’d like to explore this further.
