Welcome
Welcome to the Tomorrow newsletter. We post several times per year and really hope you find it interesting and useful.
Our New Project
We’re proud to announce the launch of “Life & Death,Today & Tomorrow.”
It’s a volume of interviews telling the stories of our clients and co-workers. The project aims to foster honest conversations about difficult topics. We also hope to inspire, advocate and raise awareness of important causes.
In Chapter One, Gill Malona tells a remarkable tale of life, love, death & birth following her husband’s terminal cancer diagnosis. Gill talks about her decision to start a family, knowing Hans was dying and the loneliness she has felt at times after his death, when people don’t know how to connect with, or be around her grief.
Chapter Two covers a conversation with Josephine, a long-time mentor for many within the funeral business, who provides a unique and poignant reflection of her own daughter, Kate’s struggle with mental health and her death by suicide.

If you have a story you’d like to share on “Life & Death,Today & Tomorrow”, you can email us here.
Podcasts & Books
We came across this incredibly moving podcast interview on ABC Conversations with Gideon Haigh. Known predominantly for his prolific sports journalism career, he has just written a book called, “My Brother Jaz”.
In the interview, Haigh reflects on the death of his younger brother 37 years ago and why it has taken him so long to speak about it. We found it to be a deeply vulnerable and candid conversation about his journey through grief and loss and have started reading his beautiful memoir now as well.

Featured In The News
Recently our co-founder, Kate Morgan, was featured in “The Age” discussing the changes happening in the area of death rituals and ceremony in Australia.
The piece is titled ‘Spend On The Champagne, Not The Coffin.” The article includes an account of her own personal challenge in surviving cancer and how that led her to become a funeral celebrant and founder of Tomorrow. Read the article here.
Children at Funerals

We are often asked whether children should attend a funeral. Of course, this is a personal choice – one that depends on the circumstances of the loss and the family’s cultural and religious practices. If this is something that is weighing on your mind, or you know someone facing this predicament, we thought you may find this article, written by Kate, valuable.
On the same topic Bec was recently listening to this insightful podcast discussing the challenges of assisting children with their grief.
Your Personal Experience
We’re always interested in your personal experience with Tomorrow Funerals. You can send us your thoughts. We’d love to share a recent Google Review we felt very lucky to receive.

Full Google review posted October, 2024:
“Kate, Bec and the whole team at Tomorrow Funerals were just incredible, from the moment they picked up the phone to the day of the memorial for my grandfather. Having never had to organise a funeral before, Kate and Bec were so patient and answered every one of our questions so we felt completely at ease. They handled everything seamlessly, from the cremation and paperwork to liaising with our chosen venue and making sure everything ran smoothly on the day. Kate even offered to pick up dry cleaning, knowing we were rushing coming to Melbourne from interstate, and organised a framed photo of my grandfather to be displayed on the day — every detail was thought of. It was an honour to have Kate act as MC and celebrant the day of – she is so warm and respectful it really felt like having another family member or friend alongside us on a difficult day. We had beautiful feedback from attendees about what a special event it was, thank you so much for everything xx”
