01.02.1954 – 29.04.2026
Lee, known to those who loved him as LH, Big Ears, or Daddio/Dad H, was a man who lived life fully and on his own terms. Active, energetic, and deeply connected to the outdoors, he found his happiest moments in the bush, by the water, at the football (if Collingwood were winning!), listening to music, and beneath an open sky.
Lee was a dedicated runner, who ran with the Hash House Harriers under the name ‘Big Ears’ for most of his life. His greatest running achievement was his remarkable performance in the 2003 Honolulu Marathon, where he placed 152nd out of 22,000 runners with a time of 3:07:17. It was the kind of quiet, determined achievement that said everything about who he was.
As a Dad, Easter camping trips with his kids became a cherished ritual, with Lee lugging all the camping gear (yes, including, the kitchen sink!). His attempts at adventurous camp cooking may not have always ended up as a success, but everyone knew what it really meant: he wanted to give them the best time possible. That was just his way.
A plumber by trade and a craftsman by nature, Lee built lasting relationships with his clients over a lifetime of honest work, a testament to the warmth he carried into everything he did. He made friends wherever he went, and there was nothing he enjoyed more than sharing a ‘sherbet’ with the people he trusted most. Lee will be deeply missed.

Had the pleasure of knowing Lee for 12-15 years. Not sure how we located him as we were looking for a plumber! Massive connection was no doubt Collingwood! We were both always in a hurry to get to his next appointment and mine too. Never made it on time as we began by Did you watch the game? Umpires never did us any favours was his most famous line! Half hour later we hadn’t moved. Always late next appointment! Reliable and honest as the day was long! My whole family enjoyed his banter. God rest his soul and we shall meet again!
Big Ears was a keen Full Moon Hasher from about 2007 until 2020, and was on the committee from 2010 until 2012 and again from 2019 until 2019. He always did his best to set a good run, and he was keen to seek out new run locations. He set his first run at Olinda, and got a bit lost, but his dog Harpo led the pack home. For another memorable run, which he set at Warrandyte, he strung a rope across the Yarra River to help all runners wade safely across.
He was very helpful and will be sorely missed.
I’m here to say goodbye to Lee a lifelong friend. We first met each other at the age of 6 in primary school and continued that friendship to the present day. You’ll be sadly missed, your mate Chris.
We shared many happy days together as we grew up being young cousins. RIP Lee and go fix the angels dripping taps.
Bronwyn, Devon & the whole family, sending our best to you at this sad time. We hope to be able to help you celebrate Lee’s life in a really personal way. Kate Morgan & the team at Tomorrow Funerals
