Where the Hills

Grünthal sits in the Verdun valley in the Adelaide Hill, just 10 minutes up the freeway from the city, though it feels a world away. It’s a working microbrewery with its own beer, gin, artisan cheese and wine, and a place that feels genuinely of where it is rather than built for occasions.
The team here have held celebrations of life, including end of life gatherings while someone is still with us (Living Wakes). They understand what is required. The Greenhouse is their dedicated private space: light-filled, with nature views at one end and a stone wall, fireplace and large TV with slideshow capabilities at the other. A room that has two qualities at once, open and enveloping, which makes it well suited to the range of things a farewell needs to be.
